Longer School Days

Finally a president whom wants to make kids go to school longer. President Obama wants to trim back summer vacation so students can spend more time in the classroom. This to me is a genius idea because if you look around the world every country has already done this, thus making them smarter than us Americans. Shocker i know. Students need to spend longer days in school actually learning and not just sitting there waiting for the bell to ring so they can go home and watch TV or go online and twitter about something pointless. In order to face these hard times we now face we are going to need more intelligent people to help solve the problem. People from other countries already embarrass us by coming to our country and taking all of the good paying jobs because unlike us they were spending more time in the classroom than trying to become popular in school. So im all for longer school days and I hope that it happens really fast because when i have kids they will be in school all day and have to read at least one book every month.

Texting and driving.

The Obama Administration is trying to set a ban on texting while driving. This sounds like a fantastic idea except for the fact that the government can't even control people from drinking and driving. Yes theres a law on it but when does that stop people from doing it anyways? Obama should be concentrating on other U.S. problems like the war we are in and the little problem with the economy and let the small local governments take care of the texting problem. He can throw his ideas out there for others to catch thats fine with me but he should focus on his other problems first.

Mercenaries

Today the United states released plans to hire paid Afghan soldiers to keep guard on U.S. bases in Afghanistan. I really don't think that this is such a great idea. There are of course many pros and cons to the situation. The pros being that we won't have to send anymore soldiers to fight the newly energized AL qaeda forces. So of course that means more soldiers can go into Iraq and into Iran when the time comes. Also, the Afghans will be able to learn to fight their own war without having the help of the U.S. all the time.
And of course there are the cons. The first being that I really wouldn't like to rely on the Afghan hired guns to protect our bases. Right now they are in charge of U.S food supply, transportation, and ammunition. One slip up by them or they decide to turn their back on us hundreds of soldiers may die. They could take over a base full of supplies and have a huge battle there. To me relying on Contract guns wouldn't make me feel to safe. I'm sure Defense Secretary Robert Gates knows exactly what he is doing since he's been Defense secretary for about 3 years now.

Sotomayor

Hello there today I am posting on how bad the Republicans have been toward Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. First off President Obama didn't nominate her for nothing. Obviously she is well qualified for the position. A bunch of people are saying that Obama only nominated her because she is Hispanic. Grant it she will be the first Hispanic to be supreme court judge but still, hes not appointing because of race. The republicans keep asking her about how she feels about abortion and all the other important historical cases like Roe v. Wade and Brown vs. board of education. Everybody has mixed reviews about abortion. Its 50/50. She has been a judge for a while so she shouldn't have to be told how to make decisions based on facts and not by personal feelings. For all the interrogations that the republicans did they are still going to vote her in because shes not a crazy feminists out to seek control of the Judicial branch. She is just a hard worker that is eager to get what she has worked for over 30 years. People should trust in Obama because he is the guy that we are all depending on.

July 3, 2009 Sarah Palin

Today Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin resign from her office in Alaska. Many believe and so do i that she is going to run for president in 2012. Two things are going to have to happen in order for her to win it:
1. By some miracle in the world she decides to read a few books and maybe study a couple of maps of the world. It wouldn't hurt knowing where many of the major countries sit.
2. In the next 4 years President Obama is going to have to completely destroy half the country. He will have to be George Bush times 10. He will have to find WMD's in England and maybe decide not to fix the economy.

Palin is one of the biggest reasons that McCain lost the election in the first place. If he was to ever die in office nobody not even me wanted to see her run the country. And besides she will probably run against Hilary Clinton or Obama and I don't think she can beat either. America has seen enough of the Republicans screwing up. She will just add to it.
